2b. Support through the use of automated tools

It can often be very helpful to use automated tools for the preliminary identification of potentially problematic content. For example, automation can be used to identify specific keywords associated with extremist worldviews or visual elements such as logos or symbols of terrorist organisations. There are also initiatives to automatically detect potentially terrorist content across platforms by reference to a common database (e.g. Tech Against Terrorism’s Terrorist Content Analytics Platform [TCAP] or the hash-sharing database maintained by the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism [GIFCT]).
